HOEVEN ANNOUNCES GRANTS FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

BISMARCK, ND – Governor John Hoeven today announced that the state has received three federal grants totaling $156,000 from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support economic development efforts in north central, south central and eastern North Dakota.

The Souris Basin Planning Council was awarded a $52,000 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) grant, the Lewis and Clark Regional Development Council was awarded a $52,000 CEDS grant and the Lake Agassiz Regional Council received a $52,000 CEDS grant. The grants are designed to establish an economic development planning framework, process and strategy that supports private capital investment and job creation in the region.

“We are working very hard to grow our economy and move North Dakota forward,” said Hoeven. “To do that, we depend on the hard work and innovation from all our communities in every corner of the state. These grants will help these communities develop and implement strategic plans to strengthen their regional economies. That means continued progress and growth for not only these communities, but our entire state.”

The grants will impact Bottineau, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville, Ward, Burleigh, Emmons, Grant, Kidder, McLean, Mercer, Morton, Oliver, Cass, Ransom, Sargent, Steele, and Traill counties.
