Re: Stimulus Package - Good things do happen on Friday the 13th

Thank you for all of your phone calls to Congress to urge your representatives to vote for an economic recovery package that includes significant funding for education. Your efforts have paid off......the House and the Senate have conferenced their stimulus proposals, and each chamber is set to vote on the final package today or this weekend. Included within the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is a substantial amount of money for education. Below is a short summary of the funding. Of particular note is the $100 million included for the Teacher Quality Partnership Grants. AACTE members have been critically important in securing this funding in the final package!

To learn more, join your colleagues on February 26 from 1:30-3:00 EST at an AACTE webinar entitled "A New Administration + New Congress = New Opportunities". Participants will get an update on implications for educator preparation in the stimulus package, the new Congress and the Administration. Additionally, presenters will discuss the implementation of the Higher Education Opportunity Act --- the Teacher Quality Partnership Grants and new accountability provisions.
