Events

COB hosting public reception for entrepreneurship faculty candidate
The campus and public are cordially invited to a reception on Wednesday (April 14) from 5 to 6 p.m. in the College of Business hallway (Old Main, third floor) for Shawn Carraher, candidate for an entrepreneurship faculty position to teach and guide the development of the Severson Entrepreneurship Academy in the College of Business.

Carraher is currently the Virginia Brewczynski Endowed chair and professor of business at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla. Over his 18-year career, he has initiated several entrepreneurship programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels; many of his students still maintain businesses they started under his guidance. As well, he has mentored students to state, regional and national success in business plan competitions. In addition to a lengthy list of publications, Carraher has received many awards for his outstanding teaching, keynote speaking, service and leadership. For questions, contact 858-3110.

Former faculty member dies

Carol Belinsky, professor emeritus, died April 10; she was 95. Belinsky was a chemistry faculty member in the 1950s through 1970s, and she taught chemistry to many students. After celebrating her 90th birthday in Minot, Belinsky went to live with her family in Kuwait, where she lived the past five years.

Notifying the Office of Student Life or faculty members through the Office of Public Information (using this format or by any other means) does not constitute an excused absence. Whenever a student anticipates an absence, he/she should contact the appropriate faculty member prior to missing class.

It is up to the discretion of the faculty member whether students will be excused from class or allowed to make up any missed work. Each faculty member establishes his/her own guidelines regarding class absence, and whether a student will be allowed to make up missed work.*
